Rev. Paul Camp
Associate Pastor of Youth and Families
Paul Camp grew up in Boiling Springs, SC in a family that was always at the church if the doors were open. He was taught the Bible and knew it well, but it wasn’t until he attended a basketball camp at age 13 where God moved in his heart and made him realize that the head knowledge he had wouldn’t save him but only a personal relationship with Jesus as Lord of his life would be his salvation. After high school, he attended North Greenville University where he met his wife, Kellie. In May of 2006, he graduated with a BA in Youth Ministry, and a couple of months later he and Kellie married. Paul began serving as an Associate Pastor of Youth and Children at Pinewood Baptist Church in SC while Kellie taught in a local elementary school. Paul worked bi-vocationally in both public and private schools before God opened the door for him to work management with Chick-fil-a.
The calling to further his education with a seminary degree had lingered in the back of Paul’s mind since he graduated from NGU, but the when and where hadn’t been made clear. Through different circumstances and situations, God had finally revealed the next step. Now with two children, Parker and Ellis, in tow, the Camps moved to New Orleans in January 2013 for Paul to get his Masters of Divinity in Counseling. They lived there for four and a half years. During their time in New Orleans, they added two more children, Annelise and Henry, to their family. In June 2017, they moved to Durham where they are excited to serve with the people at Gorman Baptist.
Paul’s passion, as he has worked with children, youth, and families over 15 years, is to see everyone have a personal relationship with Christ and to grow in a healthy way – spiritually, mentally, and emotionally – in the Christian life. Through his experience and training, God has given Paul the desire to see people have a holistic approach to life with a healthy view of themselves and with others in the Body of Christ.
